Happy Anniversary, Blog

It is a debate on what is the actual birthday of my blog. I am guess I am the only one that would debate that so I can declare the birthday when I want to. I have decided that my blog anniversary should be on my birthday. There is a reason and it is not just so I have an easy date to remember.

Way back when I started this blog it was in the days when I thought that the title of the blog had to match the website. I remember searching and searching for something that I would like. I admit I have learned some things about blogging since then. Anyway the title that I came up with was "As He Leads is Joy".

That was the title of my Great Aunt's book which was taken from the theme verse for her senior class in college. I knew my great Aunt and all the great Aunts on my grandfather's side of the family. Three of my great aunts lived in the same town where I grew up. My great grandmother also lived there. Each year at Christmas all the aunts, uncles, cousins, and family would gather for a meal. I am so thankful for the godly heritage on that side of the family. I think each of my grandfather's siblings were involved in some sort of missionary/ministry, some overseas and some in the States.

Yes, Miss K does look like me.

My Great Aunt was the eldest of my grandfather's sisters. She never married. She spent many years as a missionary in Central America. Her book, As He Leads is Joy tells part of her missionary story.

I was born on her birthday and so I began her "birthday girl". Since the blog is named after her and I share my birthday with her I figure the blog should share that date as well.

To quote Paul Harvey, "now, you know the rest of the story" as to how my blog got its title.

  1. What a neat story! I, too, had great aunts who were missionaries. They inspired me to go as a missionary to Japan. What a blessing it is to have a godly heritage, indeed!

  2. Happy blog anniversary! And it was very cool to read a little bit about your family's history and how you chose the name of your blog. It sounds like you come from a family very passionate about God and doing His work in this world.
