J has listened to the Radio Theater production of The Chronicles of Narnia. I don't know that we could count how many times he has listened to this. I bought it a few years ago for about $10. It was worth the investment.
We have purchased all the Chronicles of Narnia books and he has read them. I think I managed to find all of them at thrift stores.
C.S. Lewis had to be on our list of British Authors to study. We read one book on his life, Writers Uncovered C.S. Lewis. I would like to add another book about his life to our list.
I found a copybook of C.S. Lewis quotes online here. That was nice to supplement what we have learned about him. Last night I listened as J quoted quite a number of these quotes back to my husband. It began, "C.S. Lewis said . . ." That shows me the importance of having good copywork.
There really is so much more about C. S. Lewis to study and learn about. I think we will have to come back and study some more.
Other authors that we have studied include:
A.A. Milne
Beatrix Potter
Beth
CS Lewis is one of my favourite authors! There is a film about his life called Shadowlands, have you seen it?
ReplyDeleteThank you for the reminder about Shadowlands. It has been a long time since I saw that.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stoping by "my teachers name is mama" I also love cs Lewis and used the radio theatre with my 2nd grade class, I look forward to sharing with my children. I love author study. What types of things do you do for author study?
ReplyDeleteWhen I looked at curriculum about British Literature most of it was for high schoolers and dealt with the old classics like Beowulf, Chaucer, Shakespeare, etc. I wanted something fun that my elementary children could understand. We read about the author's life, read books by that author, watch movies, draw, and whatever else I think applies to that author. We will be in England this summer and I am hoping that we will be able to continue this study.
DeleteGood for you! I'd love to see what you do!
